RED film debuts in UK & US
Originally planned to coincide with last year's World Aids Day celebrations in December, the Global Fund's film about the impact of ARVs, The Lazarus Effect, will debut on HBO in the US and Channel 4 in the UK on May 24th 2010.
Connie, Bwalya, Nsangu and Concillia are all HIV positive and live in Zambia. The film tells each of their individual and remarkable stories to document the transformative impact of HIV drugs ("ARVs") on ordinary people, their families and communities.
Lushomo and its members only feature briefly in the final film, but in a country where everyone is either infected or affected, it's a window for Western audiences on an everyday life that resonates strongly will all those of the children and young people we support.
As the moment, there are no further plans to work again with RED, the Global Fund's fundraising arm that made the documentary. However, we're hoping at least that, as other news stories come to dominate the headlines, this high-profile campaign will remind people of some of the fantastic stories that continue to shine out from this preventable disaster.
